Mainz, late summer 1752: A mysterious letter without a seal puts you at the centre of a gripping intrigue at the electoral court. In this outdoor escape game, you slip into the role of a secret messenger and embark on a historical quest through the winding alleyways of the historic city centre.

An atmospheric mix of sightseeing and murder mystery awaits you. Meet dodgy valets, vigilant sedan chair bearers and taciturn stonemasons at the cathedral. You have to look closely, because only those who notice details such as limping steps or suspicious rings will be able to track down the traitor.

The story behind the tour

In 1752, Mainz is under the rule of the Elector and Archbishop Johann Friedrich Karl von Ostein. As one of the electors, he participates in the election of the Holy Roman Emperor; in his seat of residence, the court, the nobility, and the clergy define the power structure. The cathedral chapter possesses its own rights and influence. While merchants make their living from trade along the Rhine and craftspeople are organised into guilds, the rhythm of the year is shaped by ecclesiastical festivals. In the realm of administration, seals attest to the authenticity of documents, rendering authority visible on paper.
